I like to build things. I get ideas for pieces all the time, eating breakfast, brushing my teeth, trying to fall asleep. Being open to inspiration is how my pieces are born, you never know what's coming, when it's coming and how it will change your life. I love ceramics, mushing clay, seeing a little rough sketch turn into a form with depth and heart. I often incorporate other mixed media too. Starting with high school, I took every art class available (some many times). I went to school to become an art teacher and loved all the art classes I took and was hungry for more. I landed a job as an art teacher at Blue Springs High School and had an amazing mentor that helped me take what I learned, always stay a learner and teach to high school students. After four years, our daughter was born and it was full time mom. Now she's growing up and so must I, sending my artwork out to the world so that all the long hours, bits and pieces of time and love, lots of love, can be shared with you. Thanks for stopping by! Oh yeah, and the name, Dirty Cupcakes Ceramics, it was a birthday card for my sister and this bee-hived, heel wearing, cupcake girl had so much sass it seemed fitting. ![]() | ![]() My studio, including the best blue vinyl chair, ever. |
